We invite composers working in the Nordic countries and holding membership in a national Nordic collecting society to submit their best film or TV score for the HARPA Nordic Film Composers Award 2027.

Eligibility

Your submission must meet the following criteria

• The composition is for a narrative feature film, documentary, or TV series

• The work was released between July 21, 2025 and July 21, 2026

• The submission is at least 50 minutes in length

• The release date is listed on the official IMDb page of the work

What to include in your submission

• Full name, contact information (email and phone number), IMDb page, website and composer profile page at nordicfilmmusicdays.com

• Your membership number at your national collecting society

• Link to a screener with English subtitles

• If the submission is a TV series, please advise us which episode you want the jury to watch

• Link to the IMDb page of the submitted work

What happens next?

After submitting, here is what you can expect:

• October–November: The national jury evaluates all submissions. The jury process is confidential.

• The national nominee will be announced on November 2, 2026.

If you are nominated

• Your submission proceeds to the international jury, which selects the winner

• In December, a presentation video will be recorded in which you discuss (or present) your work

• You will be invited to Nordic Film Music Days 2027 in Berlin (February 12–15, 2027), with travel and hotel expenses covered

• In Berlin, you will have access to speed meetings and invitations to VIP events

• You are expected to participate in HARPA/NFMD activities, including interviews, screenings of the nominated films, and a presentation of the nominated composers

The HARPA Award winner will be announced at the award ceremony on the evening of Saturday, February 13, 2027, at Nordische Botschaften in Berlin.

The HARPA Nordic Film Music Days & Composers Award was introduced by the Nordic composer organizations in 2010. Since 2016, the award ceremony has taken place at the Nordische Botschaften in Berlin in connection with the Berlin International Film Festival. It unspooled virtually in 2021, as a hybrid event in 2022 and then back to a full live audience in 2023.

Nordic Film Music Days (NFMD) is carried out as a collaboration between the Nordic composer organizations, and Music Finland. To achieve its goals Nordic Film Music Days co-operates closely with the Nordic Embassies in Berlin. Nordic Film Music Days is supported by Nordische Botschaften and Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
