Circolo Scandinavo -residenssi Roomassa – Hae nyt

Circolo Scandinavo offers residencies to Nordic artists. Artists from all Nordic countries and all art fields may apply.

 

Residencies are minimum 1 month. The program may include a cultural event (artist talk, a master class, literary event, concert ecc.) all of which are open to the general public, and other projects designed to promote Nordic artists in Italy. The program contributes to collaboration and networking with the Italian public and culture.

 

The application period is from 1 February to 1 April. All applications are forwarded to the relevant national artists’ organisations, after which an inter-Nordic committee makes the final selection (members of the selection committee: professional artists on the Board of Governors and the Director of Circolo Scandinavo). The basic criteria is artistic quality, and there is no quota-based selection.

 

The centrally located 15th-century building has 5 studio rooms available: 4 rooms of 20 m2, 26 m2, 27 m2 and 32 m2 respectively, and 1 small room of 11 m2. There is a music room with piano (J. P. Löfberg, 7 octaves) for musicians and a separate 8.5 m2 workroom for one visual artist.

 

Accommodation:

The rooms have good natural light, basic work equipment, high ceilings (3.5 m) and fast internet access (wifi and cable). The bathroom is separate and shared with one other room. Bed sheets and towels are available.

 

Shared facilities:

Kitchen, living room, library, terrace, washing machine, telephone, and a wireless b/w laser printer. The following technical equipment is available: projector EPSON EM-62, Behringer Mixer XENYS 502 (Premium 5 input, 2 bus mixer), 4 dB loudspeakers K70, a television and a DVD/VHS player.

 

Grants:

Grants to cover rent and other costs related to a residency are available for some nationalities and professions.

 

Rent:

Monthly costs for the Artists-in-residence: large room 500€; small room 400€. Supplement for accompanying guest: 20€/night for the first week; thereafter 10€/night. Due to the size of the artists residence we can only host two people per room. We cannot accommodate children under the age of 14. No pets.

 

Application form:

An application form is mandatory and will be displayed below during the application period (Feb-April). Due to administrative procedures, applicants are kindly requested to fill in the application form in DanishSwedish,Norwegian or English.

 

State your motivation for applying for residency. The nature of the work that the artist wishes to undertake must be described and enclosed to the application form. The applicant is requested to provide information about: any special technical requirements; specific expectations as regards, for example, meeting/dialogue with Italian arts and cultural life; degree of proficiency, if any, in the Italian language; any arrangements already made for the public presentation of the result of the applicant’s residency – a concert, exhibition or book publication, for example.

 

Enclosures:

The application form gives a list of obligatory and possible enclosures. In case of any further enclosures sent by post to Circolo Scandinavo, the quantity of – for example, images, catalogues, books, CDs, scores, DVDs etc – should fit into an A4 envelope. NB: Enclosures will not be returned to the applicant!
